The Russian Almaz SLR
The Russian Almaz SLR was made in the 1980s and it is popularly known as the Almaz 103. The 103 marking is in the removable pentaprism, so it is likely that the 103 refers to this item rather than the camera body. Hence it should be called the plain "Almaz" The word “almaz” apparently translates as diamond, and there is a diamond shaped design on the top of the camera. It is supposed to be a copy of the Nikon F2, but it is only loosely based on that camera. Apart from other considerations, it takes Pentax K mount lenses and not the Nikon F variety. Reputedly only nine of these cameras were made, but it seems likely that the real number is much greater than this. Still a very rare camera though.
